Day 267 This time I made it to Barnet, to do the No 399, despite problems on the Victoria line initially hindering my progress.

This time I caught the 1030 Victoria train to Victoria with the intention of catching the Victoria line to Finsbury Park and then a train to New Barnet. However, on arrival at the Underground just before I went through the barrier and announcement was made that track problems are preventing any movement on the Victoria line through Seven Sisters. Therefore I went east on a District line train to Embankment and then via the Northern line to High Barnet, changing from the Mill Hill East train to the High Barnet one at Finchley Central.at 1151. I arrived at High Barnet at 1206 which gave me ample time to reach the Spires shopping centre for the next No 399 at 1245.

An hourly bus service for five time a day

London General's WS61 arriving

Within the No 399

London General WS61 arrived at 1254 although it did not have a number on the blind the driver showed us a board with the bus route details on as we were boarding. So left down Salisbury Road this seemed like the only bus that went left from here and although most buses went left to reach the Spires this one and the No 84B the Central Connect replacement for TFLs 84 follow to Hadley Green. At Duty road the  bus announced it would be hail and ride and turned right down Dury Road past Monken Hadley church and through some white gates at 1300.

Next the bus took Camlet Way which was very rural on the right hand side especially. We passed the primary school and turned right down Beech Hill Avenue then Newmans Way and back up Beech Hill Avenue by way of Greenbrook Avenue to reach Camlet Way again. From here we went down the hill to reach Cockfosters Road where I saw a No 298 now operated by UNO rather than Sullivan buses. Here we turned left and then left again up Lancaster Avenue and subsequently we reached Hadley Wood station at 1314. At this point the bus destination changed to Barnet the Spires and the bus headed to Camlet Way and then back the way it had come via Monken Hadley church arriving back ay the Spires at 1323.

The bus didn't have the route
details on its display just this

I then took the No 184bus  to New Barnet a train from there to Finsbury Park for which I had to wait 28 minutes and then a Horsham train to East Croydon. I took a tram to Church Street and then boarded a No 645 school bus which terminates at Waddon Post Office which closed probably at the turn of the century and reached home at 1605.
