Day fifty seven the 1st September 2018 the Nos 94 and 95

These two buses were relatively easy to combine which is not something that has happened a great deal recently. The No 94 starts at Piccadilly Circus so after taking Richard to Kingston Hospital by tram and train we returned to Wimbledon station by the No 57 bus. Here we parted company and I caught a Southwestern Railway train to Waterloo and then a Bakerloo tube to Piccadilly Circus.

I found the No 94, London United's ADH45012 in Charles Street and boarded it at 1247. The bus ran up Regent Street to Oxford Circus and then ran along Oxford Street to Marble Arch which was reached in the respectably quick time of 1304. This was good going compared to previous runs along Oxford Street but may have been because it was a Saturday. The panorama of London Plane trees along the Bayswater Road was quite spectacular.

Just past Lancaster Gate there were roadworks but the road was one way only with traffic the other way diverted onto another route. Notting Hill Gate was reached at 1315 just under half an hour from departure and we then sailed on westwards towards Shepherds Bush which was reached at 1326.
A surprise was to see VW1194 providing the No 31 service,
the very bus I sat on whilst doing the No 90 only a few days previously

After this I encountered the first part of road I had not so far traversed, the Goldhawk Road. This ran on to Turnham Green and eventually Acton Green which I reached at 1338.
Journey's end at Acton Green

The No 95 starts at Shepherds Bush so I caught the next No 94 back, but we were delayed rather a long time whilst drivers were exchanged near Goldhawk Road Metropolitan station.  At 1357 though, I was underway again and it wasn't long before I reached Shepherds Bush.

The No 95 lays over on the north side of the green but actually picks up on the south side at bus stop F. This bus was a single decker which is still quite a novelty on the routes I have done so far. It was a Metroline operated Dart DE1908 which departed at 1408.

The bus went past White City bus station and Westcroft with the new Shepherds Bush library and on past TV Centre where there were queues of people waiting for something to be recorded. At The Westway we turned left and joined the A40 for a good long while, just pulling into the bus stop lay-bys every so often. We called, for example, at Park Royal tube and Hanger Lane tube stations but both times returned to the A40 Westway. It was only when we reached the Greenford roundabout that we said goodbye to the A40 and headed south to Greenford turning right up Ruislip Road. After a short while we turned south into housing estates, built between the wars and continued largely twisting and turning until we finally reached Southall town centre at 1517.
The bus turns down a little side road to disgorge remaining passengers at Southall Town Hall

From here I walked to Southall railway station and caught a train to Ealing Broadway and then as Thursday to Earl's Court. Thereafter though, I went direct to home changing at West Brompton for the London Overground to Clapham Junction and home by Southern Railways. I actually got home about 1725.
