I caught the 1030 train to Battersea Park in order to help the wife carry some books to the Rose Community Centre where there was a library. From there I walked to the new Battersea Power Station Underground station and took a Northern line train to Tottenham Court Road. There I changed for the Central line which reached East Acton at 1227. I had been to the Brunel Road bus stop here a long time ago when doing the Number 7 which was on my third trip. Things had changed quite a lot and there was now a security gate and the bus stops were the other side of this gate. Indeed I was told off by security for taking photographs there so was unable to take my customary photograph of boarding the bus which I did at 1244.

The buses used to pick up where the pillar box is and those barriers and security hut were not present the last time I was here. |
The bus was a single decker; London United 30339 and followed the route I had taken on both the No 7 and No 72 past Wormwood Scrubs prison and Hammersmith Hospital.

Approaching the Westway from the North |
At the end of Du Cane Road the bus turned right to go under the Westway but then immediately swung right to join the Westway for a short distance until we reached Bloemfontaine Road. Here the bus headed South and continued to do so along Ellerslie Road until we reached the Uxbridge Road. At the Uxbridge Road we turned East and ran into Shepherds Bush along the north side of the green. At the apex of the triangle the bus swung to the right to stop at a bus stop called Shepherds Bush station, albeit it wasn't at the bus or railway station, at 1305.

From here the bus turned left at the end of the green and took Shepherds Bush Road down to Hammersmith where we terminated at the lower part of the bus station at 1316. The timetable said the journey would be 30 minutes and so this journey at 32 minutes was quite good running given the traffic encountered.

I took the Piccadilly line to Earl's Court, District from there to West Brompton , then Overground to Clapham Junction and finally the Southern train home. This journey took me until 1450.
