I had to run for the bus which was ready to leave at 1244. The No 25 bus route is operated by Tower Transit and my service was provided by their 37844 a Volvo B9TL with Wrightbus Eclipse Gemini 2 bodywork. The route traverses Newham and into Tower Hamlets passing through Stratford at 1319. The bus stopped for a while at Bow Church DLR station whilst drivers were exchanged and we then headed west along the A11 past the London Hospital at Whitechapel and on through Aldgate to the City. The route then runs up Cornhill from Bank and along High Holborn and into Oxford Street. After turning left at Oxford Circus we then did a loop to finally disgorge the remaining passengers at 1447. The journey of over two hours was longer than the X26 I used to get regularly from almost its starting point to Heathrow airport.

In order to reach the start of the No 26 I needed to get to Waterloo station. This was easily effected by taking the No139 bus from Regent Street, which came quite swiftly at 1455 and made good progress such that I was able to board the No 26 provided by Hackney Community Tranport No 2516 at 1517. Despite seeing buses operated by this company many times this is the first in the sequence of which I have partaken as part of my trip.

Given this bus runs along Fleet Street and past St Pauls much as the No 4 had the previous month I was expecting quite a slow journey but it was surprisingly brisk and the only real hold up happened after we had passed London Fields and were heading towards Hackney Wick through the Frampton Park estate. The bus arrived at its destination after only a fraction later than an hour's duration at 1624.

I was a little concerned when I heard offered across the street the opportunity offered for some drugs, so I made a hasty walk towards Hackney Wick station where I took the London Overground to Stratford at 1634. This meant I reached home via Jubilee and London Overground just before 6 pm.
